Busy Girl…

Hi, everyone! As summer winds down (seriously, how is it already almost September?), I hope you can look back at the past few months and smile. Jeff and I took June and July off from conventions, spent a lot of time writing at the lake, relaxed, and enjoyed our new lives in Duluth, Minnesota.

My first novella, RED INSIDE, debuted on July 23rd. I’m so proud of this book…I poured my heart into making sure everything was just right.

If you’ve read it…thank you!

If you’ve reviewed it…thank you!

If you enjoyed my afterword about tarantulas…THANK YOU! šŸ™‚

If you’d like to take a gander, it’s available in all formats on Amazon (eBook, paperback, hardcover, and audiobook, narrated by the insanely talented John Wayne Comunale…and you can even read it for free in Kindle Unlimited!) Or, if you like your copies signed, you can grab one at my on-line store, along with stickers, magnets, bookmarks, and other goodies!

The first weekend in August saw Jeff and I traveling to Chicago, Illinois, for two events: On Friday evening, we did a book signing at Bucket O’ Blood Books with Aron Beauregard and Megan Stockton, and Saturday was the infamous Books & Brews event, which totally lived up to the hype. We didn’t leave our table during the entirety of the event…because we couldn’t! It was a great problem to have. To those of you who stopped by and visited, it was so good seeing you! It made me incredibly happy to meet authors I admire, as well as kind, supportive readers.

We drove back to Duluth for a day to wash clothes before heading to Minneapolis to see one of my bucket-list bands, Blink-182.

From there, we started the long journey to Austin, Texas, for the best convention of them all…KILLERCON! While there, we visited the house where the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie was filmed. It’s now a restaurant about an hour outside Austin, but it looks exactly the same as it did in that iconic film.

We hung out with lots of friends (i.e. family) and even got to meet Jonathan and Michelle Butcher! I loved every minute.

When we arrived home, Jeff tested positive for Covid, so we hunkered down and quarantined. By some miracle, I’ve remained negative, and after one short week, Jeff is now testing negative too!

My daughter, Autumn, was supposed to fly in from West Virginia and visit this week, but it fell through. To cheer me up, Jeff brought me to the lake. As I craft this blog post, I’m sitting on a screened-in porch overlooking the beautiful Gull Lake. We’ve been working here the past week, enjoying the peace and solitude. Which is good, since tomorrow we’ll be at Minnesota State Fair. With tens of thousands of people. In 90-degree heat.

I need a hug.

September and October are going to be crazy busy as our convention season kicks into gear. You can check out my ‘Appearances’ page to see where you can catch me if you’d like a book signed or a photo together or you just want to chat. I’m game for all three.

See you on the flip side! (I need a name for my fans. If you have any inspired ideas, please leave them in the comments. Jeff suggested The WTF’ers?) šŸ™‚
